Meet Shannon

Shannon O’Farrell was the very first agent to join the Team, after Mandy helped her to buy her first home. Her previous work in residential construction and as a commercial property manager continually informs her work as a Realtor. Shannon’s experience informs her ability to assess market value, allowing her to provide sound financial advice to her clients - as well as estimate potential repairs or upgrades and their costs. She is also married to a high-end general contractor and has compiled a long list of vendors she refers to her clients.

Well-known for her patience and detailed knowledge of the DC-area market and its various neighborhoods, Shannon is invested in her clients’ success, often incorporating them into her social life and circle of friends. Licensed in DC, Maryland, and Virginia since 2007, Shannon lives with her husband and two children in Brookland, a neighborhood that she loves for its sense of community.

Shannon also owns a home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and is well-versed in the residential real estate market in Talbot County, including Saint Michaels and Tilghman Island.

A graduate from James Madison University with a degree in journalism, Shannon grew up in the Virginia suburbs and around the lakes of northern Michigan. An avid Washington Nationals fan with season tickets, you’ll often find Shannon at the ballpark with her family. Shannon's children attend Washington Yu Ying, a Chinese immersion school in Brookland, where Shannon volunteers. Shannon is particularly proud of the block parties the Team hosts to raise funds for the PTAs of DC public schools.

Shannon helped us sell our home in DC and purchase a home in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was an amazing realtor for both transactions, and the whole team at MDT was also wonderful. The home that we sold needed some work to get it ready to sell. Shannon was very knowledgeable about what needed to be done, and she and the team recommended great contractors who did an excellent job in a very tight time frame. She told us what furniture to store and what to leave out for staging, so we were able to do the staging ourselves and didn’t have to hire anyone. Shannon also helped us set the right price for our home to help it sell quickly but still get us a fair price. In terms of buying our home. . . we really appreciated the fact that Shannon didn’t try to talk us into purchasing a more expensive home but was instead very respectful of our budget and only sent us information within the price range we requested. When the perfect house showed up on the Compass website Shannon sprang into action - she showed us the home the next day and submitted our offer before the open house. Shannon was great! We needed to find a much bigger space with a second child on the way and that meant we had to branch out to other neighborhoods in the city which we were not very familiar with. Shannon did an amazing job! I recommend her to any and all looking to sell or buy! She worked closely with her team to get my place ready for sale. She always gave me the up- and down-side of each decision, allowing me to make the best decision for my family. I also want to note how patient she and her team were with me when I had to do a brief pause while my young son was sick with the flu and then again to get ready for the holidays!
